Photograph by Ringo Starr (1973)

The songwriting team of Lennon & McCartney was, without a doubt, one of the best in Rock & Roll history…but after the Beatles broke up, some Great Songs                were written by the “other” team: Harrison and Starr!

For example: In 1971, Ringo and George teamed up to write “Photograph…which ended up” on Ringo’s self-titled 1973 album.

Since Ringo was—and still is—an avid photographer, so the song was a perfect fit.

George backed him on the track with a 12-string guitar…and In an effort to recreate the “Wall of Sound” effect made popular by Phil Spector,                                             the vocals and basic tracks were overdubbed with extra percussion, an orchestra, and a choir.

“Photograph, of course, ” became a world-wide hit: reaching The Top 10 in 11 countries, including Australia, Canada, and here in the US, where it went to #1.

Fun Fact: When people would compliment Ringo on his composition, he would say (with typical Ringo humor),

“I only know 3 chords. George would throw in 4 more, and everybody thought I was a genius!”

Today, “Photograph” is considered to be one of the best post-Beatle songs by ANY of the Fab Four. It’s a Great Song of 1973!
