“(Our Love)Don’t Throw It All Away” by Andy Gibb (1977)

1977 was a year that featured an incredible burst of creativity by The Bee Gees and their little brother Andy…who kept tag-teaming each other on the charts pretty much the entire year!

“Our Love (Don’t Throw it all Away) was originally recorded by Barry, Robin, and Maurice for the “Saturday Night Fever” Soundtrack, but didn’t make the final cut.

Now a Bee Gees song that wasn’t good enough for for Saturday Night Fever suggests that it might have needed some tweaking…and apparently it did.

Later in the year, when Andy decided to record it for his “Shadow Dancing” album…Barry relistened to the original version, and rewrote large chunks of it.

The new version became the fifth single–and fifth Great Song released from “Shadow Dancing,” reaching #2 on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary Chart and #9 on the Hot 100. It was also a Top 10 hit in Canada an Brazil.

So to recap: “(Our Love) Don’t Throw It All Away” was actually saved from being thrown away…reworked into a Great Song of 1977, and given as a gift from Barry Gibb…to his little brother Andy.
