“Lights Out” by Peter Wolf (1984)
Many musicologists believe that 1984 was one of the best–if not THEE best– year of music in rock and roll history!
There were so many Great songs from artists like Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, Prince…and I’ll stop there before this becomes an over-long list of artists and titles…but I’m sure you get the point.
1984 was also the year that Peter Wolf of The J. Geils Band began his solo career and immediately proved that he could hold his own among the greats with his debut single, “Lights Out” from the album of the same name.
Basically speaking, the song was hard rockin’ disco tune–a description that was proven correct when it easily became a 3-chart hit: #6 on Billboard’s Rock Chart, #11 on the Dance Chart and #12 on the Hot 100.
And here are two unrelated fun facts from Peter’s personal life:
#1: his first college roommate was film director David Lynch, and #2: in the mid-70s, he was married to actress Fay Dunaway!
But back to the music: There’s not much more to say about “Lights Out”by Peter Wolf, except that it’s a Great Song of 1984!
