I’ll Tumble 4 Ya” by Culture Club (1983) the
n 1983, Culture Club became the first band since the Beatles to score 3 top 10 singles from a debut album…a record that had been in place since 1963.
“I’ll Tumble 4 Ya” was actually the FIFTH single from “Kissing to Be Clever” and although it was initially released exclusively in North America…it was enough to tie The Fab Four…when the song reached #5 in Canada, and #9 in the U.S. on Billboard’s Hot 100. Later in the year, it was released in Australia where it went to #1.
So what exactly was Boy George willing to “tumble” for?”
In his words: ‘I’ll Tumble 4 Ya’ is about wanting to do anything to be the next big thing.”
And you’ve got to admit, He and The Culture Club were certainly a “big thing” in the mid-80s. So…mission accomplished!
