“Forever Young” by Rod Stewart (1988) you
In 1988,Rod Stewart had an epiphany of sorts: He realized that as he was getting older, all the touring he’d been doing over the years was robbing him of way too much quality time that he could be spending with his kids. In fact, some of his children were now adults and he felt he barely knew them.
So Rod decided to cut back a bit on the touring, and when he DID go on the road, he’d do his best to bring his younger children along so he could watch them grow up.
A byproduct of all this was “Forever Young:” a Great Song that definitely reflected Rod’s feelings at the time, and one of the songs he is most proud of.
Interestingly, “Forever Young” was similar to a Bob Dylan song of the same name, but instead of it becoming a copywrite issue, the guys agreed to share Rod’s royalties.
The song reached #3 on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary Chart and #12 on The Hot 100…and was also a Top 10 hit in Canada (#9) and South Africa (#3).
“Forever Young” was a Great Song of 1988, and remains one of Rod Stewart’s personal favorites to this day!
